"In Flanders fields the poppies blow |
Village of StantonWe have been very privileged to see many of the amazing churches and cathedrals across Europe. However, this small village church will forever be one of the most memorable. In this little tiny church, Tom had us sit in the pews, and he started to recite the poem In Flanders Fields. Tom went on to explain how devastating WWI had been not only to Great Britain, but especially to these small villages. It was such a poignant moment in the tour.

A Walk Through The Cotswolds...This was a very memorable day of the tour, from the quirky Stanway House, to the emotional history lesson at the church in Stanton, to a picturesque walk through the country side. For the afternoon,Tom offered an optional walk through the Cotswolds which about half the group chose to participate in. We wandered through fields of flowers, passed through kissing gates, and dreamed of living in a thatched roof cottage. The walk ended just as the rain started. Our group dinner at a local pub was cozy and fun, especially when the local musicians came to entertain us!
