Glastonbury Abbey |
A perfect morning..On our drive to Glastonbury, we passed the site of the famous Glastonbury Music Festival that would be starting in a few days. I had never heard of it before, but it is one of the biggest music festivals in the world! We actually watched some of it on TV when we were in Conwy.
The Glastonbury Abbey was one of my favorite places. The Abbey ruins were simply breathtaking. There was something very spiritual to be able to see the beautiful sky soaring above the crumbling walls. Tom shared some facts and stories about the Abbey, including some about King Arthur! Then we had a perfect amount of time to explore, take pictures, and just enjoy the sunshine. Tom organized the English picnic lunch, which we all enjoyed, before we set off for Wells. |
Wells Cathedral
|
A lovely afternoon...The Wells Cathedral is impressive inside and out! Tom shared details while we all stood on the lawn and gazed at the front façade. Then we were split into two groups and given a guided tour by one of the church volunteers.
You can pay an extra fee to take photos of the interior of the church; I chose not to. While my photos are my favorite souvenir of any trip, I find sometimes it is nice just to be in the moment and experience things without my camera lens. So you will just have to Google for interior photos, or better yet, go to Wells yourself! After the tour of the cathedral we had just enough time to find the ice cream shop before getting back on the bus to head to Bath and a group dinner! |
